Why is my soap not foaming?Updated a year ago
A nice thick lather is appealing. But bubbles aren’t a sign of cleaning power, even though we’ve been trained to think otherwise. They really don’t have any benefit. Lather and bubbles are created by synthetic foaming agents. We don’t add these agents to our soaps, which is why they do not produce the copious bubbles made by a conventional body wash.
If you prefer to have your soaping foam, we recommend diluting your Pure-Castile Liquid Soap and using a foaming pump dispenser. Foaming dispensers “thicken” the soap with water and air. If you decide to use a foaming dispenser, make sure to dilute the soap at a ratio of 1 part soap to 3 parts water. This dilution doesn’t create the issues with clogging that undiluted soap would.
Suggested ratio example:
- 8 oz. bottle = 2 oz. soap and 6 oz. water
- 12 oz. bottle = 3 oz. soap and 9 oz. water
When using a foaming dispenser, we recommend diluting a portion that will be used up within 2 weeks to a month, since we do not add any harsh preservatives in our products that will allow them to last longer than 1 month after being diluted. Additionally, we recommend using distilled water as hard water can cause natural soap separation.
