Why does my soap smell or look different than usual?Updated a year ago
As our products are made up of organic raw materials, variability is expected and causes each batch of Pure-Castile Liquid Soap to be a bit different, almost like wine. Each year has its own nuances, and crops can vary season by season. We’ve come to embrace some level of variability as it showcases the behavior of natural agricultural ingredients.
This means that our liquid soap can have a green, yellow, or even amber color at times due to the oils used. These oils along with any essential oils used can also smell stronger, lighter, sweeter, grassier, etc. The viscosity of our soaps is similarly expected to vary slightly. All the raw materials used in our products have an impact on the overall finished good, which is very normal.
Beyond this, when our soap is manufactured, it contains the most amount water content that it will have during its 3-year shelf life. As the soap ages, this water content naturally evaporates, causing the soap color to darken. This means that newer bottles tend to be lighter in color, while older bottles can be darker or more amber-colored.
