Why does my soap smell or look different than usual?Updated 18 days ago
As our products are made from organic raw materials, variability is expected, so each batch of Pure-Castile Magic Soap is a bit different, almost like wine. Each year has its own nuances, and crops can vary season by season. We’ve come to embrace some level of variability as it showcases the behavior of natural agricultural ingredients.
This means our soap can appear green, yellow, or even amber at times, depending on the oils used. These oils, along with any essential oils used, can also smell stronger, lighter, sweeter, grassier, etc. The viscosity of our soaps is similarly expected to vary slightly. All the raw materials used in our products affect the finished good, which is very normal.
Beyond this, when our soap is manufactured, it contains the highest water content that it will have during its 3-year shelf life. As the soap ages, this water content naturally evaporates, causing the soap color to darken and thicken. This means that newer bottles tend to be lighter in color and more fluid, while older bottles can be darker or more amber-colored and slightly more viscous.
However, if you feel something is wrong with your soap beyond normal variability, please share your experience with our team HERE.
