Why do you use alcohol in your Organic Hand and Body Lotion?Updated 9 days ago

We use organic and fair trade ethyl alcohol derived from certified non-GMO sugarcane in our Organic Hand and Body Lotion and Organic Hair Crème for a couple of reasons. Not only do we use ethanol as a preservative to prevent microbial growth in the product, but it's also a solubilizer. This means that the alcohol in our products actually works to create a more nourishing product by holding all the moisturizing oils in suspension. Without its presence, the oils in these two products would separate.

While we don’t use more than 15% denatured ethanol, rest assured that the level of ethanol in our lotion and hair crème is balanced with other ingredients to ensure that it doesn’t dry out skin or hair. In fact, by holding the other ingredients together, the ethanol does the opposite and makes our products more moisturizing!
