Why did Organic Jojoba Oil change to Organic Jojoba Wax?Updated 4 months ago
What we now call “jojoba wax” on our ingredient list is in fact jojoba oil, the two are often used interchangeably. In fact, Jojoba is actually a liquid wax ester, an acid with an -OH group. In the case of jojoba, the material is a combination of a fatty acid with fatty alcohol. This is found naturally and not the result of any treatment of the material.
The reason we changed it to “jojoba wax” on our ingredients list is because it is not Regenerative Organic Certified™. We print “Made with Regenerative Organic Certified Oils" on the packaging of our soaps, which implies that anything listed as “oil” in our ingredients list is in fact Regenerative Organic Certified. We are currently using organic jojoba oil and calling it “jojoba wax,” allowing us to keep our central regenerative organic claim.
