Which products are best for sensitive skin?Updated a month ago

While we currently don't make any products specifically for dry or sensitive skin, many of our soaps work very well for those with skin sensitivities. To help you figure out which of our soaps is best for you, here's a list from least to most moisturizing: Pure-Castile Liquid, Pure-Castile Bar, and Organic Sugar Soap

Scents

All varieties of our soap are okay to use on the body; however, depending on your skin type, some may feel drying. For example, some of the essential oils in our soaps, such as Peppermint and Eucalyptus, are naturally drying and can cause irritation for some. If your skin feels too dry after using either of these scents, we'd recommend choosing a gentler option, like our almond, citrus, or lavender soaps.

Our Baby Unscented and Tea Tree soaps are our most gentle options, and are generally recommended for those who experience skin issues such as eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, acne, oily skin, or general skin sensitivities. Our unscented soaps don't contain any essential oils, making them milder than our other soaps. However, because everyone's skin is unique, finding the right product can be challenging. We encourage customers to be mindful that individual reactions can vary and to first try any product on a small area of your skin, to be sure that it works for you.

Sugar Soap

Beyond the scents, our Organic Sugar Soap offers a more moisturizing experience. The first ingredient in our Sugar Soap is organic sucrose, which is a natural humectant that draws moisture into the skin and hair. As a result, these soaps tend to be a bit more hydrating than our classic Pure-Castile Soaps. Our Sugar Soaps also contain shikakai powder, which has been used in India for centuries as a gentle conditioner for skin and hair, making them ideal for washing hair (just remember to use an acidic conditioning rinse).

Balms

Other great products for dry areas of the skin and lips are our Unscented Organic Magic Balm and Naked Organic Lip Balm. Moisturizing your skin is also important, so we recommend following up with a daily moisturizer that you may already have and using our balm on those drier areas, though it's not recommended as a daily facial moisturizer. The nature of the balms, as oil/wax mixtures, is not readily and completely absorbed, which leaves the possibility of clogging pores. Balms work by providing a moisture barrier, while oils nourish and soothe the skin.

As mentioned above, we don't make soaps specifically for certain skin conditions, though they may help in some cases. That said, we always suggest that you first consult with your dermatologist or physician to determine which products may be more suitable for your body.
