What are the 18-in-1 uses for Pure-Castile Liquid Soap?Updated a year ago
Our Pure-Castile Liquid Soaps are castile soaps made from pure organic plant oils without any synthetic detergents. Our Pure-Castile Soap is extremely versatile and gentle enough to wash your face and body but also effective enough to clean your laundry, dishes, floors, pets, countertops, etc. Dr. Bronner coined the phrase "18-in-1" to show how versatile our soap can be, however, there are actually many more than 18 uses for our Pure-Castile Soaps.
We encourage you to check out our Castile Soap 101 page to find many articles about our Pure-Castile Soap and its many uses, particularly our What Is Castile Soap? What Are Its Uses and Benefits? article which is packed with information about our soap and how it can benefit us all!
For extensive guides on recipes and usage, we highly recommend checking out Lisa Bronner's blog, Going Green with Lisa Bronner, where she provides incredibly handy dilution cheat sheets and insights on how to live a "greener" life.
While we recommend diluting our Pure-Castile Liquid Soap, it is not necessary for all uses and mostly comes down to preference. For example, some may prefer to pour a few drops into their hands for handwashing, and others may prefer to dilute our soap at a 1:3 ratio in a foaming pump. But keep in mind, our soap is 2 - 3 times more concentrated than most soaps on the market; therefore, less is definitely more.
If you are diluting our Pure-Castile Liquid Soap, we recommend only diluting a portion that will be used within a month. We do not add any harsh preservatives to our products that will allow them to last longer than 1 month after being diluted. We recommend using distilled water to dilute our soap as hard water can cause natural soap separation.
Our Pure-Castile Liquid Soap does not work well with pump dispensers. We have tested a variety of pumps and dilutions over the years with little success. Inevitably, the very concentrated soap clogs the pump. We recommend keeping the soap in its original bottle and using just a drop or two for each handwashing.
However, our Liquid Soap does work well in foaming dispensers. Foaming dispensers “thicken” the soap with water and air. If you decide to use a foaming dispenser, make sure to dilute the soap. We recommend a ratio of 1 part soap to 3 parts water but you can always use a 1:5 or 1:8 ratio if you prefer a milder dilution. None of these dilutions create the issues with clogging that undiluted soap would.
