Is the Virgin Coconut Oil cold-pressed?Updated 10 months ago
Our Regenerative Organic Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) is made using a “dry process” and we only use regenerative organic and fair trade coconuts that are grown and harvested by our Serendipol’s (our sister company) organic farmers.
Our VCO is then expeller pressed which refers to the method of pressing the oil. This means that our VCO is extracted from these dried flakes purely mechanically, in an expeller press, without the use of any solvents to extract the oil.
The term “cold pressed” refers to the temperature at which the oil drips from the expeller. This term is not well defined, but most oil millers agree that “cold pressed” means that the dripping temperature of the oil is less than 140°F (60°C). Our VCO has a dripping temperature of 130°F. Thus, one may call it cold pressed, however, some purists believe “cold pressed” means a dripping temperature of 120°F or less. For this reason, we describe our VCO as being expeller pressed.
