How is Pure-Castile Liquid Soap made?Updated a year ago

Our Pure-Castile Liquid Soap is made by saponifying plant-based oils (coconut oil, palm kernel oil, and olive oil) and alkali using large reactor vessels in batches. The alkali is Potassium Hydroxide, unlike Bar Soap which uses Sodium Hydroxide. Under heat and pressure, the triglycerides are broken to form a blend of Potassium cocoate, Potassium palm kernelate, and Potassium Olivate otherwise known as soap. The hydroxide ion forms water, and the glycerin is left free-floating. Some soap makers remove the glycerin. We prefer to leave this in because it makes for a soft after-feel. Soap is then cooled and transferred to storage tanks before being transferred to filling lines.
