How can I tell the difference between legitimate variances in Dr. Bronner's packaging and counterfeit products?Updated 7 months ago

Legitimate Dr. Bronner's products may sometimes feature minor packaging changes due to updates in branding, regulatory requirements, or adaptations in our packaging supply chain. These changes are always in line with our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

Packaging supply chain was the hardest hit for Dr. Bronner’s during the COVID-19 pandemic and ever since. We were required to make some temporary and longer-term changes to various packaging components to keep product on shelves.  The most notable changes included:

  • Caps for Liquid Soap
  • 24oz Sugar Soap bottles
  • Pumps used for Sugar Soap, Lotion, Hair Crème
  • Hand Sanitizer bottles
  • Fine Mist Sprayers

As we continue to grow, we are intentionally positioning ourselves to have more security in our supply chain. This may involve sourcing a particular packaging component from several different manufacturers, which could result in slight dimensional differences. However, Dr. Bronner’s only purchases from Approved Packaging Suppliers who have passed our thorough compliance and quality qualification process. Rest assured that any secondary or temporary packaging components will not compromise the safety or integrity of the brand or the product inside.

Here are key points to help distinguish between authentic products and potential counterfeits:

  1. Authorized Packaging Suppliers: Always purchase Dr. Bronner's products from authorized retailers or directly from our official website. This is the best way to ensure you are receiving an authentic product.
  2. Packaging Variances: Dr. Bronner's occasionally updates packaging to reflect new branding, seasonal designs, or eco-friendly materials. Any changes will generally be consistent across all our products. If you notice a significant difference in packaging, such as poor-quality printing, misspellings, or irregular logos, this could be a sign of a counterfeit product.
  3. Product Quality: Authentic products maintain the highest standards of quality. If you notice any defects, unusual textures, or unfamiliar scents, this may indicate a counterfeit item.
  4. Verification: If you are uncertain about the authenticity of a product, please contact our customer experience team with the product details and, if possible, photos of the packaging and product.

If you have concerns about whether a certain product purchased may not truly be from Dr. Bronner’s, please contact our customer experience team.
