How can I tell the difference between legitimate variances in Dr. Bronner's packaging and counterfeit products?Updated a month ago

Legitimate Dr. Bronner's products may sometimes feature minor packaging changes due to updates in branding, regulatory requirements, or adaptations in our packaging supply chain. However, these changes are always in line with our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

Our packaging supply chain was the hardest hit during the COVID-19 pandemic and has remained so ever since. We were required to make some temporary and longer-term changes to various packaging components to keep the product on shelves.  The most notable changes included:

  • Caps for our Pure-Castile Liquid Soap
  • 24oz bottles for our Organic Sugar Soap
  • Pumps used for our Organic Sugar Soap, Organic Hand & Body Lotion, & Organic Hair Crème
  • 2oz bottles and fine mist sprayers for our Organic Hand Sanitizer

As we continue to grow, we're intentionally increasing the security of our supply chain. This may involve sourcing a specific packaging component from multiple manufacturers, which could result in slight dimensional differences. However, we only purchase from approved packaging suppliers who have passed our thorough compliance and quality checks. Also, any secondary or temporary packaging components will not compromise the safety or integrity of your products or our brand.

Here are key points to help distinguish between authentic products and potential counterfeits:

  1. Authorized Retailers & Vendors: Always purchase Dr. Bronner's products from authorized retailers or directly from our official website. This is the best way to ensure you are receiving an authentic product.
  2. Packaging Variances: Dr. Bronner's occasionally updates packaging to reflect new branding, seasonal designs, or eco-friendly materials. Any changes will generally be consistent across all our products. If you notice a significant difference in the packaging of your product, such as poor-quality printing, misspellings, or irregular logos, this could be a sign of a counterfeit product.
  3. Product Quality: Authentic products maintain the highest quality standards. If a product was purchased from an authorized vendor, and you notice any defects, unusual textures, or unfamiliar scents, this may indicate a counterfeit item.
  4. Verification: If you are ever unsure about a product's authenticity, please contact our customer experience team HERE. Our team can confirm if select retailers are authorized to sell our products and look further into your specific product if necessary.

As always, if you have concerns about whether a product you purchased may not be from Dr. Bronner’s, please contact our customer experience team.
