Does Sal Suds work in HE (high-efficiency) washing machines?Updated 9 days ago

Yes! Our Sal Suds Biodegradable Cleaner* works wonderfully to wash clothing by hand and in regular or high-efficiency (HE) washing machines. However, keep in mind that although we do receive loads of positive feedback from customers who use our soaps in their HE washers, our products are not HE-certified.

To wash your laundry in an HE washing machine, simply add 1 ½ tablespoons of full-strength Sal Suds either directly into the drum or your washer's detergent compartment. If you have a regular washing machine, you can double this amount and use 2 - 3 tablespoons of full-strength Sal Suds.

For the best clean, we also recommend adding ¼ - ½ cup of baking soda to each load and ¼- ½ cup of vinegar into your fabric softener compartment (or rinse cycle). The baking soda works to brighten, deodorize, and scrub during the wash, while the vinegar breaks down any residue and naturally softens your fabric during the rinse cycle.

If you have any delicate garments such as silk, vintage items, or waterproof materials, we encourage doing a spot test first to ensure Sal Suds is okay to use. Sal Suds is intended for general use and is amazing for cleaning many different surfaces. However, since it's not specifically formulated for laundry, we haven't tested it for all types of fabrics.
