Can the citric acid and sodium benzoate create benzene?Updated 9 days ago
Studies have shown that benzene formation may be a concern in consumer products when sodium benzoate is used in conjunction with ascorbic acid. However, it's important to note that the citric acid used in our Sal Suds Biodegradable Cleaner* is not ascorbic acid. Despite not using ascorbic acid, we still had our Sal Suds formula tested for benzene by a third-party laboratory to be sure, and no benzene was detected.
*Sal Suds cleaner shows >60% biodegradation after 28 days per ISO 14593.
