Can I use a pump dispenser with the Pure-Castile Liquid Soap?Updated 7 hours ago
Due to our Pure-Castile Liquid Soaps being very concentrated, they don't work well in standard or automatic pump dispensers. We've tested a variety of pumps and dilutions over the years with little success. Inevitably, the pumps always clog. Instead, we'd recommend keeping the soap in its original bottle and using just a drop or two for each handwashing, or for whatever use you prefer.
With that said, our Pure-Castile Liquid Soap does work great in manual foaming dispensers!
Foaming dispensers “thicken” the soap with water and air. If you decide to use a foaming dispenser, make sure to dilute the soap at a 1:3 ratio of soap to water. This dilution doesn’t cause the clogging issues that undiluted soap would.
Suggested ratio example:
- 8 oz. bottle = 2 oz. soap and 6 oz. water
- 12 oz. bottle = 3 oz. soap and 9 oz. water
Just keep in mind that we only recommend diluting a portion of soap that will be used up within 2 weeks to 1 month, since we do not add any harsh preservatives to our products that would allow them to last longer than 1 month after dilution. Alternatively, dilutions with distilled water can last up to 6 months and even reduce natural soap separation that may occur with hard water.
If you prefer not to dilute your soap but still want to use a dispenser, we suggest trying our Organic Sugar Soaps. They don't encounter the same pump issues and even come with a pump dispenser. However, they're specifically formulated for use on the body and may not have the versatility of our Pure-Castile soaps.
