Can I use a pump dispenser with the Pure-Castile Liquid Soap?Updated 2 months ago

Due to our Pure-Castile Liquid Soaps being very concentrated, they do not work well in pump dispensers or automatic dispensers. We have tested a variety of pumps and dilutions over the years with little success. Inevitably, the pumps always clog. Instead, we would recommend keeping the soap in its original bottle and using just a drop or two for each handwashing or whatever use you desire.

However, while our Pure-Castile Liquid Soap does not work well with pump dispensers, or automatic dispensers, they do work great in manual foaming dispensers!

Foaming dispensers “thicken” the soap with water and air. If you decide to use a foaming dispenser, make sure to dilute the soap at a ratio of 1 part soap to 3 parts water. This dilution doesn’t create the issues with clogging that undiluted soap would.

Suggested ratio example:

  • 8 oz. bottle = 2 oz. soap and 6 oz. water
  • 12 oz. bottle = 3 oz. soap and 9 oz. water

When using a foaming dispenser, we recommend diluting a portion that will be used up within 2 weeks to a month, since we do not add any harsh preservatives in our products that will allow them to last longer than 1 month after being diluted. Additionally, we recommend using distilled water as hard water can cause natural soap separation.

If you prefer not to dilute your soap, we recommend trying our Organic Sugar Soaps. They do not encounter the same pump issues and even come with a pump dispenser. However, they are specifically formulated for bodily use and may not have the versatility that our Pure-Castile soaps do.
