Can I test positive on a drug test for THC if I use your product?Updated 7 months ago

None of the Dr. Bronner's products, including our soaps, can make you test positive for THC on a drug test. While industrial Hemp is regulated to have no more than 0.3% delta-THC, Dr. Bronner’s uses Hemp Seed Oil as a minor ingredient at no more than 3% in personal care products. Hemp Seed Oil is made from washed and pressed seeds, with trace amounts of THC that may remain from residual flower resin. Dr. Bronner's require a Certificate of Analysis (COA) from all suppliers to validate that each batch of hemp seed oil tested is within the acceptable limits for THC before it is used in Production.

A desktop study conducted in 2001 for Dr. Bronner's and other hemp product companies, funded by the Agri-Food Research and Development Initiative of the Canadian provincial government in Manitoba, determined that during typical daily use of cosmetics containing hemp seed oil on healthy skin, THC uptake was less than 1 μg (microgram).

A urine drug test can vary in sensitivity and is measured as a concentration of ng (nanograms) THC per mL (milliliter) of urine. Typical level of detection is 50ng/mL with levels of quantification of the main metabolite for THC at 15ng/mL. This latter threshold was established by the US Department of Health and Human Services to be able to distinguish between environmental exposure and intentional drug use. Citing the 2001 study, the highest THC level found after a subject ingested the equivalent of 125mL of Hemp Seed Oil daily was 5.2 ng/mL, which is well under the threshold of 15 ng/mL recognized by the Department of Health and Human Services. Thus, we can reasonably and confidently deduce that the active use of Bronner’s products as directed would not result in a positive drug test.
