Are Dr. Bronner's products nut-free?Updated 15 days ago
Rest assured that all of Dr. Bronner’s products are produced and packaged in facilities that are peanut and tree-nut free.
Our Almond Pure-Castile Soaps are not made with almond essential oil. There are two types of almond oil: bitter almond oil and sweet almond oil. Bitter almond oil, the one that is aromatic (sweet almond oil is scentless), contains toxic levels of prussic acid, better known as cyanide. Instead, we use “natural almond fragrance,” which is derived from the cassia plant. The scent is very similar to almonds, but without any trace of nuts or cyanide.
Many of our products do contain Coconut Oil. Although coconuts are classified as fruits, the FDA technically recognizes coconuts as a tree nut. Coconuts are not genetically related to any of the nuts or legumes that may cause allergies (walnuts, peanuts). Botanically, coconut flesh is considered a “drupe,” more closely related to the flesh of mangoes, olives, or peaches than to tree nuts.
Our Regenerative Organic Whole Kernal Coconut Oil is produced in a facility that handles only coconut oil, and the bottles are filled on equipment dedicated to filling VCO.
