Are Dr. Bronner's products nut-free?Updated a month ago

Yes! All of our products are produced and packaged in facilities that are peanut and tree-nut-free.

Even our Almond Magic Soaps do not contain any nuts or tree nuts. There are actually two types of almond oil: bitter and sweet. Bitter almond oil is aromatic (sweet almond oil is scentless); however, it contains toxic levels of prussic acid, better known as cyanide! To avoid this harmful compound, we use a “natural almond fragrance” derived from the cassia plant. The scent is very similar to almonds, but without any trace of nuts or cyanide.

Keep in mind that many of our products do contain coconut oil. Although coconuts are classified as fruits, the FDA technically recognizes coconuts as a tree nut. Coconuts are not genetically related to any of the nuts or legumes that may cause allergies (walnuts, peanuts). Botanically, coconut flesh is a drupe and is more closely related to mangoes, olives, and peaches than to tree nuts.

Our Regenerative Organic Whole Kernel Coconut Oil (VCO) is made in a facility that handles only coconut oil. Meaning the bottles are filled on equipment dedicated to filling VCO.
