Are ants and other insects drawn to the sugar in your soaps?Updated a month ago

While it's possible that ants and other insects can be drawn to the sweet smell of the organic sucrose used in our Organic Sugar Soap and Organic Shaving Soap, it's quite uncommon. If this ever happens, it's likely due to the area or season being prone to ant or insect infestations. If you're experiencing bugs around your soap, rest assured that the pump on our Sugar Soap and cap on our Shaving Soap are air-tight, preventing any insects from getting into your product.

If you live in an area prone to ants, you can help prevent them and other insects by keeping the area around your soap clean and free of soap drips. You can also keep the product in a higher cabinet or shelf, or even transfer it into a container with a sealable cap.

Alternatively, you could try our Pure-Castile Liquid Soap, as it does not contain any organic sucrose or white grape juice that could attract insects. In fact, our Pure-Castile Soaps can be used to make your own insecticidal spray. If you're interested in making this for yourself, check out Lisa Bronner’s blog post Castile Soap Garden Spray for a full walkthrough.
